Ozone treatment at Wye Dental Surgery
This is a new form of treatment for decayed teeth. Ozone gas is
delivered to the tooth with a small rubber cup, using the “Healozone” machine.
The gas kills the bacteria within the decay, after which the soft
decay can become strong and healthy again. This process is called
remineralisation. If the decay is not too deep this may be all
the treatment that is required. If the decay goes deeper ozone
can be used in combination with some drilling.
The benefits are:-
- No drilling, or less drilling
- Tooth is
sterilised allowing remineralisation to take place
- Tooth remains
stronger and should need less dental treatment in the future
- Reduced risk of root treatment being
necessary
- Usually no anaesthetic or injection needed
- Totally safe
- Ideal for treating children's
teeth
